The Tomatis Method had made a big difference to my life. I originally went to the Listening Centre to improve my voice and yet my listening and communication skills have also improved dramatically.At first I couldn't deduce whether a tone was higher or lower from a certain key. Now when I listen carefully, I not only hear the various frequency notes but also I feel them, in a strange way, Tomatis makes you open up to the frequencies and you can feel whether the tone is going up or down. It becomes automatic.
In the very first week, I felt I had begun to create my own space and was in touch with my inner feelings at a more constant level, I became more sensitive to sound and enjoyed a lighter feeling in general. Gradually as I progressed in the programme, I became more confident in expressing my ideas and feeling and my anxieties of failing began to fade away. I have more energy and make sure I complete projects that I started. My faith in my own abilities has grown, and that gives me a wonderful empowering feeling.
Tomatis has given me the ability to listen to music and sing in pitch using a technique that works best for me. Singing in pitch depends on various factors but the main thing is that after doing Tomatis, I have the means to develop my singing correctly whereas before I couldn't even begin, as I couldn't hear the notes correctly.
The other night I began singing a note in a restaurant and a lady sitting with friends at the next table to me heard and said I had a great voice. When I told her I was doing lessons at the end she came up to me and said that I had an amazing voice as it sounded very clear. Her friend then said I should sing to make people happy! This has only happened thanks to Tomatis...!
